You know that novel that a few months ago I said might be in my future? Well, it really may be taking shape in my mind. I have been doing genealogy off and on for a few years. I haven’t taken the time to be really serious with it until over this past year. The stories that seem to be appearing out of the past are so interesting. I’m getting excited about the prospect of actually maybe writing an inspirational historical novel based on some of my immigrant ancestors, and some of my ancestors during the 1700’s through the 1800’s after they got to America! There is still a lot of genealogy I need to document, and history that I need to correlate with the life and times of these family members. This is the kind of novel I think I can to.

Up until now just the thought of writing a novel seemed way too monumental to even give it a mental glance. With a little help from friends, and a LOT of prayer, my goal is to lay out the plot, create character profiles, collect some period history, and be ready to go for it by October. I want to be ready to participate in National Novel Writing Month, or better known as NaNoWriMo. The concept of this event is that a writer can write a 50,000 word novel in a month, a novel being from 50,000 to 80,000 words. So that there is a good break from the intensity, editing comes a few months later the next March. I participated in NaNoWriMo last October in order to see if I could rewrite my inspirational non-fiction book, “From Whence Comes My Help;” or the alternate title of “Empty Arms.” I attempted to rewrite it as an inspirational fiction book, but it just didn’t seem right. I felt God was closing the door on that and trying to tell me to keep it as non-fiction.

So while that book is in editing, I will lay the ground work for this inspirational historic fiction book about some of my ancestors. I get excited about it every time I think about it. Before October, I am confident I will know for sure if I have the “go ahead” from God, the Master Author. I would like to ask for your prayers on this, since I really don’t want to attempt this without God’s blessing, but to write it only WITH His blessing. Thank you ahead of time for your prayers.
