I Heard A Song Today

radio-picture-5

In high school, my tenth grade teacher asked us one day, “When you listen to music is it the words or the melody that attracts you and keeps you listening to that song over and over?” At that time I answered that it was the words, because I listened for the message in the words. If asked that question now, I would have to say that it is both. It’s like the cover of a good book, magazine, or a movie poster. I’m attracted to that first, but I also want to know why that cover; what in the book, magazine, or movie warrants that cover.

Like most everyone else, the first bars of a song either grab me or do not; but when I get as far as the words of the song I want to know the message. Sometimes I find myself disappointed, but most of the time I do not. Today I turned on the car radio to find that a song that I love was just starting to play. It had just the message I needed to hear today. It was “He Reigns,” by Newsboys. All of the song hits that worship cord in me, but the main part of the message I needed to hear is in the chorus, about “all God’s children singing glory, glory, hallelujah, He reigns” and then in another verse that says, “And all the powers of darkness tremble at what they’ve just heard ’cause all the powers of darkness can’t drown out a single word.” (To hear this song go here.)

God knew what I needed to hear and He knew when I would turn that radio on today. He sent that personal reminder to me that He does reign. I was having a “blues” morning missing Mama. God reminded me that she is fully healed, healthy, and happy, and that one day all of us who are called by His name; who have asked His Son, Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior will experience the same. God reigns, and darkness cannot win over the Light, which is Jesus Christ. I am comforted, revived, and rejuvenated with that knowledge. I sincerely hope you are, too. He loves us all so much. I pray you have that relationship with Him also, or that you will soon by your choice. I would love to meet you in Heaven one day.

Until then, may God draw you ever close to Him to know Him deeply.

Have a very blessed day, friends.
